10-31-11 Fishing Report

Bait was easy again. Only kept the biggest Threads I could find. 6 throws and 250 great baits later, I was set.
Head out to the spot the better fish have been roaming. They were not there the last two trips but I thought I'd give them another shot. These fish have only been running the river ledge at daylight and if I was going to find them, I needed to stop there first.
The first anchor held nothing and after about 10 minutes I pulled up and moved down the ledge a couple hundred yards or so. This time, I let the boat drift out in deeper water, about 60ft or so. There were a couple fish down there but the first two were only good box fish. Then.... a school of good fish came running by. At first it was just one or two on but then it was as fast as I could bait the guys up. At one point, we had 4 on the floor flopping around. These were all good fish in the 23-26 inch range.
Pulled all of our overs we could keep and let some more go, then they were gone. 15 long fish right there but it was short lived.
Went in search of some good box fish. Next 3 spots held zero fish and I didn't even stop. Dropped the next anchor at a spot that has been producing for me but only caught a few small Stripers there.
Moved out onto some flats and started drifting, fish started piling up and we did that one drift, till we had limits of injured fish. Pulled over 80 fish total, Let some more long fish and good box fish go on that drift also.
Best box of fish I've had in weeks.
Weather could not have been better.
